The API follows one simple rule: changes to records and geohosts become active only after a commit. These are the two typical sequences, with links to each call.

Publish a zone with records

  1. Create the zone – No commit needed.
  2. Add records – Records are saved but not active.
  3. Commit the zone – The new records go live.

To change records later, call Modify zone records or Delete zone records, then commit the zone again.

Create a geohost with targets

  1. Look up check ids – Each target is monitored by one or more checks.
  2. Look up the balancing algorithm – Use one of the returned tags as lbalgorithm.
  3. Create the geohost – It must be committed to become active.
  4. Add targets – One call per target.
  5. Commit the geohost – Geohost and targets go live.

Deleting a geohost takes effect immediately and needs no commit.
